Quasi-Photo
We’ve entered a new era of The Saga. Although I’ve written many more Saga Stories than I’ve published, I did not have art work for all of them. Jason Montoya, the artist of all previous Saga Stories, has been unavailable, and last month, you saw the final drawing of his.
This month, we have a new member of the Stone Cold Staff, Scott McKinley. What you see to your right is his very first contribution to Stone Cold Magic Magazine. I received it from him today, so it’s fresh, hot and brand spankin’ new.
The story, however, was written over 6 years ago. For those familiar with my effect Quasi-Photo, you’ll likely have a better understanding of what you are about to read . . . a dark and sad poem that is this month’s saga:
Alone he sits, quietly humming the words to random meaningless lyrics. He waits for the light; he waits for the timing to be right. But deep in his heart, he knows that it will never happen, so in an effort to raise his spirits, he writes poems about himself. Below is one such piece of sadness:
In prison I wait with a crease in my back
It’s too dark to see in this cell, pitch black
I’m feeling around hoping to see
If silence is all that’s in store for me
Suddenly I feel a slight little shake
I can see light near the trees by the lake
Life is passing before my mind’s eye
Now I see the lake but from up in the sky
Images are coming faster and clearer
I can see myself but I have no mirror
How can this be; I’m part of their world
Into this spiral all rolled up and curled
I’m seeing it now as I scream and shout
I want to be with them there is no doubt
But truth is sadness like this cell of black
I’m one of 52 from a Bicycle pack
This isn’t Kansas, and I’m not Toto
I’m not a real picture, just Quasi-photo.
