Shari’s Berries

Mmmmmmm . . . Chocolate Strawberries

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Fruit Baskets! Make sure you take a moment to read the December 2008 No Stone Left Unturned article titled, Fruit Baskets before reading this article.

Shari’s Berries

I’m a big fan of Shari’s Berries. My mom can set her clock to it . . . her birthday and Mother’s day, she gets a package of chocolate dipped strawberries and/or chocolate dipped cherries. You can schedule it in advance if you want. So who cares what I get my mom for her birthday? I do. She does.

What’s the point? Your event planner cares. Your client cares. It’s so easy to do, and only takes a minute. Further, there are other brands under the same umbrella that you can access from the Shari’s Berries site.

  • Pro Flowers
  • Pro Plants
  • Red Envelope
  • Personal Creations
  • Cherry Moon Farms

You can access all of them right from Shari’s Berries at the very top of the page. I think the name says it all for most of those. However, Red Envelope may need further explanation. Basically it’s a site full of tons of gifts. That’s it. It’s loaded with tons and tons of different categories. One of the categories is “thank you.” Click on that and just scroll through. You’re bound to find something that fits the occasion. So what are the occasions? The Fruit Baskets article sums it up nicely with this:

Basically, here’s this issue in a nutshell:

  • Get Birth dates and Anniversary dates
  • Send Birthday Cards and Anniversary Cards
  • Send Gourmet and/or homemade gift baskets to your clients
  • Include a thank you card, business card, a discount on a future show and any info regarding new shows or products

But Wait . . . There’s More!

One other important event that I failed to mention in the previous article is the interview. When you speak with event planners, restaurant managers and clients in general, you gotta close the deal folks. So think about these scenarios:

Hey Jaime – I just wanted to thank you for meeting with me on Friday. I look forward to entertaining your guests.

What’s great about that line is that it works even if they haven’t offered your the gig. You interviewed with them today, and they said that they’d have to get back to you. Bam. Go to berries.com (Shari’s Berries) or any of the other aforementioned places, and send her a thank you gift for meeting with you. Then add to the card that goes along with the gift the text (or something similar) above.

Of course, this can get very pricey, so save it for those big gigs you want to land. But even for the smaller gigs, nothing says you can still send a simple thank you note even without an accompanying gift. Repeat business is where it’s “at.” But you can’t get repeat business without getting the first gig. Land it with a custom gift. Repeat it with another custom gift.

Until Next Month . . .
