5 Smart Phone Apps You MUST Have

In today’s business world, most of us have a smart phone. If you don’t have one, you can skip this article. Basically, there area a couple of apps that I think you really need if you’re going to be in doing business with humans and/or if you’re planning on promoting yourself in any way, shape or form.

List of Apps

I highly recommend you have a Linked In Profile. It’s today’s version of a resume. You can take a look at my profile here: Jeff’s Linked In Page. Along with that, you should get the official LinkedIn App. It makes staying current with your account, alerts, messages, etc. extremely easy.

Next, associated with the LinkedIn App is another App called Card Munch. This is probably my new favorite app. When you get a business card from a client, open the app, and take a quick snapshot of the business card. Then the app does the rest of the work for you. It’s run through a system consisting of existing data and live humans. In the end you wind up with the business card information being extracted and displayed in a user friendly interface on your phone. Plus it links you up to the client’s LinkedIn profile if they have one. Super easy and super awesome.

Another favorite app is Genius Scan. There’s a free version and a paid version. I highly recommend the paid version because it automatically links up with your Dropbox account and your Google Drive account. If you don’t know what Dropbox is, read all about it here: The Magic of Dropbox. What Genius Scan does for you is lets you take a picture of a document and instantly convert into a pdf (or other format of your choice. The app is super smart and automatically crops out the background when taking the picture. It knows what part is the document and only captures that.

You can then, with a quick tap, automatically send the document to Dropbox or Google Drive. This is great for contracts and other paperwork you might be using with your client. Finally, I would recommend you get the actual Dropbox app (or Google Drive app if you prefer – Google drive is the same type of service as Dropbox). The Dropbox app links up to your Dropbox account. So if you have all of your documents uploaded to Dropbox, or blank contracts that you print out for clients to sign, etc., you can access all of that directly from your phone.

There are tons of great apps out there, but if you have these few apps, you’re miles away from your competition on the professional front. When you meet a potential client, don’t just be some clown the does a trick hoping to get booked. Sure you want to impress them with your skills, but if you really want them to take you seriously, show them that you’re a business acumen and you’ll set yourself apart from any other entertainer they’ve considered working with.
